Zhenshan Village
A living fossil of 400-year-old Ming Dynasty fortress and Buyi cultural integration*: All-stone architecture, Ming Dynasty fortress walls, the unique custom of "one family with two surnames" among the Ban and Li clans, and the daily working lives of villagers are all integral parts of the culture. Free from excessive commercialization, it retains the most primitive style of the ancient village. A variety of unique Zhenshan check-in experiences are available, including parent-child interactive kiln-baked bread making with Uncle Li, and learning to make Buyi batik, tie-dye and Ƌeiyouƽ**, allowing you to deeply experience the authentic original Buyi folk culture (Free, open all day, all year round)
Li Village
Across Huaxi Reservoir from Zhenshan Village, it is the least commercialized Buyi ancient village in Guiyang. Only a few dozen local families live here, preserving the most primitive slate house style and Buyi way of life. There are no homestays, farm restaurants or eateries, only a small family-run grocery store at the village entrance. Extremely quiet, with only the sounds of birds and water, it is a paradise for hiking and cultural photography. It has a Yixiantian (One-Line Sky) viewing platform overlooking Huaxi Reservoir and Banbian Mountain (Free, open all day, all year round) No commercial facilities in the village; must bring your own water and food; do not enter villagers' homes without permission
Tianhetan Tourist Resort
A miniature bonsai of Guizhou's landscapes, the only scenic spot near Guiyang that combines karst caves, underground rivers, surface waterfalls, natural bridges and canyons. You can see the most representative landscapes of Guizhou without traveling hundreds of kilometers. Sightseeing buses cover all core attractions, making the visit easy and suitable for all ages (Ticket required, open 8:30–18:00 all year round)
Huaxi Yelang Valley Song-style Castle
A magical stone castle hand-built over 20 years by artist Song Peilun using local stones and discarded materials. More than 300 totem statues integrate Yelang culture, Nuo culture and modern art, with a unique style that is extremely photogenic. It is the most artistic and recognizable attraction in Guiyang (Ticket required, open 9:00–18:00 all year round) The scenic spot is small and can be visited in 1 hour; not recommended for a special trip, suitable for a side trip with Tianhetan
Huaxi Wetland Park (Shili Hetan)
A 6.5-kilometer original ecological riverside wetland, the green lung of Guiyang. It retains the original river beach landform with different natural landscapes in four seasons: rapeseed flowers in March, lotus flowers in June, reeds in October and metasequoias in December. It has dedicated cycling and walking paths, making it the best choice for weekend leisure, cycling and hiking (Free, open all day, all year round) Walking the whole way is tiring; recommend renting a bicycle; crowded on weekends, suggest going early
Huaxi Park
A century-old classic park built in 1937, the first park in Guizhou. Ba Jin and Xiao Shan spent their honeymoon here. The park features mountains and waters, with classic attractions such as Bashang Bridge, Baibu Bridge, Lin Mountain and Gui Mountain, full of Republic of China style. It is the core landmark of Huaxi (Free, open all day, all year round) Extremely crowded on weekends and holidays; suggest going on weekdays or early in the morning
Huaxi Cross Street Food
The most authentic food gathering place in Huaxi. Qingyan Ancient Town
A famous historical and cultural town in China and a national 5A-level scenic spot, a living fossil of Ming Dynasty military fortresses. Built during the Hongwu Period of the Ming Dynasty, it preserves a large number of Ming and Qing ancient buildings: stone archways, ancient city walls, temples and dwellings. Qingyan braised pork feet, rose candy and glutinous rice cake porridge are must-try foods. Moderately commercialized, it is worth spending half a day exploring slowly (Ticket required, open all year round) Only buy the basic town ticket; the joint ticket for small attractions is not worth it; do not buy souvenirs at the town entrance, they are more expensive than inside
Longjing Buyi Village
A 400-year-old Buyi ancient village next to Qingyan Ancient Town. It has a 400-year-old Longjing (Dragon Well) with clear and sweet spring water that villagers still drink today. Visitors can experience Buyi batik, tie-dye and Bayin singing. Farm restaurants use local ingredients, offering delicious food at affordable prices (Free, open all day, all year round) Batik experience requires advance reservation; do not buy so-called "handmade batik" at the village entrance, many are machine-made
Xiaoche River Wetland Park
The core scenic area of Aha Lake National Wetland Park, the most beautiful urban wetland in Guiyang. It has clear streams, large reed marshes, Dong-style wind and rain bridges and drum towers, with an excellent ecological environment where various birds can often be seen. Much less crowded than Huaxi Park, it is very suitable for walking, breathing fresh air and taking photos (Free, open all day, all year round) Pets are not allowed; barbecues and camping are prohibited
Qiantao Township · Laobang River Rafting
The closest rafting spot to the urban area, with gentle currents suitable for all ages. The rafting route is 3 kilometers long, taking about 1 hour, surrounded by green mountains and clear waters with a beautiful environment. Suitable for families with elderly people and children (Admission charged; open 9:00–18:00 during summer June-August) No tourist value outside summer, do not go
Huaguoyuan White House
The most iconic internet-famous building in Guiyang, in European castle style. Magnificent during the day, it becomes extremely beautiful when the lights turn on at 7 PM, a must-visit for Guiyang's night view. Only the exterior is open to the public; the interior is not accessible (Exterior free, open all year round) Best photo time is 7:00-8:00 PM; do not trust people on the street who claim to "take you into the White House"
Huaguoyuan Twin Towers
The tallest building in Guiyang, 406 meters high, the core landmark of Guiyang's night view. There is a light show every night from 19:00 to 22:00, showcasing Guizhou's landscapes and ethnic culture. Located next to Huaguoyuan White House, you can visit both together (Exterior free, open all year round) Light show starts at 19:00, every half hour, 10 minutes each show
Qingyun Market
The most popular nighttime cultural and tourism consumption cluster in Guiyang, transformed from an old factory. It brings together specialty foods from all over Guizhou, cultural and creative shops, bars and livehouses, full of fireworks and artistic atmosphere. A must-visit place for young people at night (Free, open 10:00–24:00 all year round) Most lively at night; suggest going in the evening; very crowded on weekends
Wenchang Pavilion
Built during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty, the only ancient building in China with a three-story, three-eave, nine-corner pointed roof. Its exquisite architectural craftsmanship embodies ancient Chinese Yin-Yang and Five Elements theory. Located in the core of old Guiyang, with Minsheng Road Food Street nearby (Free, open 9:00–17:00 all year round) 1 hour is enough for the visit; you can go to Minsheng Road for food afterwards
Qianling Mountain Park
The "green lung" of Guiyang, the most cost-effective urban park in China. It has a large number of wild macaques, Hongfu Temple (a famous Buddhist temple in Guizhou) and Qianling Lake where you can boat. Climb to the Kanzhu Pavilion on the top to overlook the entire Guiyang city (Low-cost admission, open 6:30–22:00 all year round) Never feed the monkeys; they will snatch things; do not wear red clothes as it will provoke them
Jiaxiu Tower
The city landmark of Guiyang, built during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty. Located on Hanbi Lake, connected by Fuyu Bridge, it is simple and elegant during the day, and extremely beautiful when the lights reflect on the water at night. A must-visit attraction in Guiyang (Free, open all day, all year round) Best photo time is 7:30-8:30 PM; reservation required to enter the interior of Jiaxiu Tower
Yangming Temple
A temple commemorating the Ming Dynasty thinker Wang Yangming, built during the Jiaqing Period of the Qing Dynasty. It is a complex of Ming and Qing ancient buildings with a quiet environment and profound cultural heritage. Very few visitors, suitable for quiet visits to learn about Wang Yangming's life and the philosophy of "the unity of knowledge and action" (Free, open 9:00–17:00 all year round, closed on Mondays) 1.5 hours is enough for the visit; Fufeng Mountain is nearby, you can climb it afterwards
Dongshan Temple
The best panoramic view point in Guiyang, bar none. Located on the top of Dongshan Mountain, it offers a 360-degree view of Guiyang city during the day and a stunning night view. It takes about 20 minutes to climb, or you can take the elevator directly to the top, very convenient (Free, open 6:00–22:00 all year round) Elevator is charged; suggest going in the evening to watch the sunset and then the night view
Guiyang Happy World
The largest theme park in Guiyang, with more than 30 amusement facilities. Including thrilling rides such as roller coasters, Ferris wheels, pirate ships, pendulum rides and drop towers, as well as family-friendly rides such as carousels and bumper cars. Guizhou Provincial Museum
A national first-class museum, a must-visit place to learn about Guizhou's history and culture. It has a collection of more than 200,000 cultural relics, with the Eastern Han Dynasty bronze chariot and horses as the treasure of the museum. The Miao ethnic costumes and silver ornaments exhibition hall is the best in China, showcasing the cultural characteristics of 17 indigenous ethnic groups in Guizhou (Free with reservation, open 9:00–17:00 all year round, closed on Mondays) Must make a reservation 3 days in advance on the official WeChat account; no on-site reservations available; suggest reserving 3 hours for the visit
Guanshanhu Park
The largest urban central park in Guiyang, the green lung of Guanshanhu District. It has Swan Lake, cherry blossom avenue and ginkgo forest. Cherry blossoms are beautiful in March, and ginkgoes turn golden in November, making it a popular weekend leisure spot for Guiyang residents (Free, open all day, all year round; Best for cherry blossoms in March, ginkgoes in November) Much less crowded than Huaxi Park; you can feed swans (feed for sale)
Guizhou Provincial Geological Museum
A first-class geological museum in China, the ceiling of parent-child science popularization in Guiyang. It features giant Mamenchisaurus fossils, Guizhou dragon fossils, crinoid fossils and a rich exhibition of mineral resources. There are many interactive experience areas where children can participate hands-on, and adults can also learn a lot (Free with reservation, open 9:00–17:00 all year round, closed on Mondays) The dinosaur hall is on the basement floor; don't miss it; advance reservation is also required
Quanhu Park/Fanhuali/West Putuo Temple
One-stop visit to three completely different style attractions: Quanhu Park has lake views and music fountains; Fanhuali is an internet-famous outlet with a blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles, great for photos; West Putuo Temple is known as "the Little Forbidden City of Guiyang", with red walls and yellow tiles, and prosperous incense (All free, open all day, all year round) Free incense available at West Putuo Temple; music fountains only on weekends and holidays
Gaopo Miao Ethnic Township
The highest place in Guiyang, with an average altitude of 1500 meters, known as "Little Tibet" of Guiyang. Yunding Grassland
An alpine grassland located in Gaopo Miao Ethnic Township, the best summer escape near Guiyang. With an average summer temperature of 22°C, you can camp, barbecue, ride horses and fly kites. Taoyuan River Scenic Area (Rafting)
The most famous rafting resort in Guizhou, known as "the No.1 Rafting in Central Guizhou". The rafting route is 5 kilometers long with a drop of 170 meters, very exciting. The scenic area also has canyons, waterfalls and hot springs, and you can enjoy the landscape in non-rafting seasons (Admission charged, open 9:00–17:00 during rafting season May-October) Only suitable for landscape viewing in non-rafting seasons; you will get completely wet during rafting, remember to bring a change of clothes
